John J. McCauley was recently appointed to serve on the SC Judicial Qualifications Committee.
This is a committee sponsored by the SC Bar and created by SC law, the purpose of the Committee is to screen candidates for judicial vacancies in the administrative law judge division, the family court, the circuit court, the court of appeals and the Supreme Court of South Carolina. While the SC General Assembly ultimately elects the individual who fills each judicial vacancy, the Judicial Qualifications Committee provides the initial screening process to ensure all candidates voted upon by the General Assembly meets certain minimum standards.
